MEECE Fact Sheets

MEECE fact sheet series is a dynamic and opportunistic knowledge transfer tool, delivering knowledge relevant to global science users (managers, science and policy advisors, NGOs, industry, etc.) and science practitioners, in a language that is clear, brief and focused on specific outcomes, action points, scientific advances and methodological developments.

The aim of the series is to communicate the science of the MEECE project to these target groups and promote its use in the wider management, policy and user communities to influence the global debate on issues relevant to climate change and marine ecosystems.

As well as a suite of generic fact sheets to highlight project outcomes, a number of fact sheets specifically addressing how MEECE science could be used to support the Marine Strategy Framework Directive process particularly in determining and assessing Good Environmental Status and indicator selection were written. These show per Descriptor how modelling and related tools can support decision making.

The full set of fact sheets are available in hardcopy, pleaes contact the project office to receive a copy.

How modelling and related tools can be used to support the Marine Strategy Framework Directive Descriptors

This set of fact sheets highlight how models and related tools that have been developed during MEECE can be applied to help answer some of the difficult questions that need to be addressed in order to meet the objectives of the EU Marine Strategy Framework Directive. A fact sheet has been written to address each Descriptor that was relevant to MEECE's activities. They provide examples and case studies of the kind of information that models can tell us and how they can be used to help define indicators of change or assess Good Environmental Status the key mechanisms of the MSFD.
