Knowledge Transfer and Dissemination
Knowledge transfer involved the exchange of research-based knowledge to inform and influence decision-making and policy development. In our current knowledge-driven society, knowledge transfer is vital in order to transfer ideas, research results and skills between research organisations and user groups.
Researchers, decision-makers and user groups have a long history of disengagement. Knowledge transfer aims to address this and bridge the gap between those who produce research-based knowledge and information and those who are in a position to use it.
For the purposes of MEECE, the term knowledge transfer is interpreted as the process which facilitates the dissemination of research-based knowledge, expertise and skills between the network and global users. Effective knowledge transfer requires communication between MEECE scientists and global users (e.g. policy makers, advisory bodies, research managers, conservation and user groups, management bodies), and results in the production, dissemination and use of existing or new research-based knowledge in decision-making and enterprise. The key MEECE target groups include, decision makers in both science and policy areas, SME interested in the application of knowledge, and the public as a whole.

Key Presentations
Over the life of the project a number of high level presentations have been given to highlight MEECE's role and input into policy issues, particularly in support of the Marine Strategy Framework Directive:The MEECE Project - presented to DG Environment by Poject Coordinator Icarus Allen
The MEECE Project: outputs and uses - presented to the Marine Strategy Coordination Group by Poject Coordinator Icarus Allen
Fact Sheets
Key project findings and outputs are translated into 'Fact Sheets'. These publications provide an easy to read summary of MEECE research outputs and are targetted at global users.Click here for full details
Knowledge Transfer Contacts Database
This database provides contact details for organisations, and relevant individuals, which have a potential interest in the scientific outputs of MEECE, and related projects. This database is publically accessible. Access the databaseMEECE User Advisory Group
A selected group of stakeholders who will provide support on user related issues in relation to the scientific activitites and development of the project. They will also feedback information from their own sectors to support the development of the project and help ensure MEECE outputs are presented in a way that meets the needs of global user groups.Click here for more information on their activities
